Sub: 8th RSC All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament from 2nd to 7th June 2008 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Regional Sports Centre, Kadavanthara, Cochin

We have great pleasure to announce the first All India Junior Tournament of the season 2008-2009. The subject tournament will have the following events in the Under 10, Under 13, Under 16, Under 19 categories and Mixed Doubles only in the Under 19 category:

01. Boys’ Singles           02. Boys’ Doubles
03. Girls’ Singles           04. Girls’ Doubles

The qualifying rounds will be played on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June. Main draw of Under 10 & Under 13 events will start on the 4th June 2008. There will be no qualifying rounds for the Under 10 category. Please note that both qualifying rounds and main draw matches (for both boys & girls) will be played over three games of 21 points. The finals of all Under 19 events and the Under 16 Boys’ and Girls’ Singles will be played on the 7th evening and the remaining on the 6th evening. This will be one of the selection tournaments for selecting the Indian team for the Junior Asian Badminton Championships to be held in Jakarta in July 2008.

This is a three star All India Junior ranking tournament organized under the auspices of the Kerala Badminton (Shuttle) Association, carrying prize money of Rs. 2.00 lakhs. Rules and Regulations set by the Badminton Association of India shall apply for the conduct of this tournament.

Entry fees: Singles Rs. 50/- and Doubles Rs. 100/-

Players should pay entry fees by cash /DD/ Cheque, immediately on arrival at the venue. Cheques / DDs should be drawn favouring “Regional Sports Centre” on Cochin.

The top two singles players and the top Doubles team in the Under 13, 16 & Under 19 categories for both boys and girls will be invited for the tournament and paid TA/DA as per BAI rules.

Eligibility criteria:

A specimen entry form for players to submit their individual entries to you is enclosed. We request you to kindly collect the eligible entries at your end and send the same to us in one consolidated letter, giving the following particulars:

Name in full, Date of birth, BAI ID No. for all the events, separately. For Doubles, all particulars of both the players will have to be mentioned. Kindly ensure that your consolidated entry letter reaches us latest by 6.00 pm on the 26th May 2008 at the following address. No entry received after the cut-off date will be accepted.

All players must carry their age certificates in the BAI format during the tournament. Players yet to be registered with BAI must submit their original age certificates in the BAI format to the Referee before playing their matches. A list of hotels with tentative tariff is also attached. Those desirous of reserving rooms may kindly contact the hotels directly. Cochin will be rainy during June and players and parents may be advised to take umbrellas / rainwear.

Ernakulam has two railway stations viz. Ernakulam Town and Ernakulam Junction. Please check at which station your train halts and get down accordingly. The stadium is approximately 4 km from the Ernakulam Town station and 1.5 km from the Ernakulam Junction.

Please circulate this information to all the District Associations, Major Clubs in your state and ensure that maximum publicity is given to the tournament.

IMPORTANT POINTS
